Le Vagabond is a warm, relaxed and atmospheric hostelry, bar and restaurant, housed in a 150 year old building. It is a one-minute walk away from the centre of town and close to one of the main bus stops to take you up to the slopes. The hostel is a good value-for-money choice for backpackers, and the bar is popular with (English) locals. The friendly staff make you feel at home straight away, which makes this place perfect for single travellers.
The bar is small and cosy, with a roaring open log fire adding to the atmosphere. There is also a terrace with great views of the Mont Blanc and Brévent so soak up the sun, or enjoy one of the Vagabonds famous and delicious BBQ. Le Vagabond serves pub food like burgers, curries and roasts, but with an international twist. The food is homemade and comes in large portions: perfect for a cold winter evening.
The hostel offers all-year-round budget board and lodgings. Prices start at 16,40 euros per person for a bunker bed with shared shower and toilet. The dorms are pretty small, so if you are looking for some more space you can opt for their more luxurious en-suite bed & breakfast accommodations. The Vagabond has a fully equipped communal kitchen for its customers to use.

Nicky from ManchesterFriendly and helpful, good location, fab food and, great atmosphere - a breath of fresh air in Chamonix! Described on other sites as basic - what else do you need to enjoy a ski break? Snow, obviously, but that's a factor out of the control of Le Vagabond....! If you fancy a spa break go and book one but why pay so much more for a hot sweaty box and a few bubbles when this place has everything you need for a chilled out break??!! (Jan 09)
