The rustic village of Les Contamines lies between Chamonix and Megeve, but is generally considered to be a cheaper option for a ski holiday. The nightlife is limited but vibrant, there are some nice restaurants and shops and there is even a weekly traditional french market. The ski area has to be reached by bus, of which there are plenty. Once there you will find an 180 km ski area that mainly caters to the more experienced skiers/boarders with lots of red and black runs and great off-piste. There are 2 pistes and a snow park in the village, which adds a special atmosphere to Les Contamines. As part of the Evasion ski area, les Contamines is well linked to the other resorts of Combloux, Megeve, La Giettaz, St Gervais and st Nicolas de Veroce. Les Contamines is also linked with the ski area of Belleville.
